Abstract

ESPER ANGILLIERI, María Yanina. Inventory of  landslides processes in a region of  the Iglesia Department, San Juan. Rev. Asoc. Geol. Argent. [online]. 2011, vol.68, n.2, pp.225-232. ISSN 0004-4822.

This study shows an inventory of  lanslides, starting from the interpretation and digital analysis of  aerial photographs and satellite images of  varied resolution, in the main basins which affect the localities of  Malimán, Angualasto and Buena Esperanza, in the Iglesia Department, San Juan Province. The occurrence of  landslides in relation to several determining factors or variables (lithology, elevation, slope, aspect, and insolation) is analyzed in GIS environment. Three main morphostructural environments have been recognized in the study area: the Western Precordillera to the western, principally made up of  paleozoic sedimentites and the Cordillera Frontal to the east, which is characterized by Permo-Triassic volcanism. Both geological provinces are separated by the Iglesia Valley which comprises mainly the paleogene-neogene outcrops. The results  indicate that out of  the 760 geoforms identified as landslides, 45,53 % corresponds to flows, and from these 75,43 % are active, being the the main triggering agent, the heavy rains.
