Chos Malal city is located in the north of Neuquén province (Argentina). It was founded in 1885, as the first capital of Neuquén province. The city is surrounded by Neuquén and Curi Leuvú rivers and it has been affected by floods since its origins. In recent years material and human looses have increased. In the study area, floods occur in different seasons, causing frequent disasters that diminish the quality of life for residents. The geomorphologic analysis obtained from satellite images, aerial photographs interpretation and field work, the hydrometeorological analysis, historical and social records, they allowed to obtain a hazard map. It was concluded as causes of flooding are the hydrometeorological characteristics of the basin and the geomorphologic characteristics.
