Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the globally dominant nosocomial pathogens, causings a wide range of infections, some of them so severe as pneumonia or bacteremia, which gets more complicated due to its intrinsic resistance to diverse antibiotics and its remarkable ability to acquire new resistance mechanisms, associating it with high mortality rates and becoming a serious public health problem.
