Abstract

PARRILLA MARTINEZ, Desiderio. El significado de "privación indefinida" (stéresis aóristos) en los fragmentos del diálogo del Eudemo. Synthesis (La Plata) [online]. 2022, vol.29, n.2, e122. ISSN 0328-1205.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.24215/1851779xe122.

In the fragments of the Eudemus dialogue the hapax "indefinite deprivation" ("estéresis aoristos") appears. The meaning of this strange construction has been much discussed by contemporary critics. Depending on their interpretation, each critic has offered a different theory about the evolution of the Stagirite's thought and the dating of his works. In this paper we present the current state of the matter and propose an integrating interpretation of the previous proposals, but disregarding those elements that have occurred or are even unsustainable according to current criticism.

Keywords : Aristotle; De anima; Ancient Philosophy; Privation.
