ROCA, Facundo. (Funeral practices and burial places in late colonial Buenos Aires: a study on the parish of Nuestra Señora de Montserrat). Andes [online]. 2019, vol.30, n.2, pp.00-00. ISSN 1668-8090.

This article deals with funerals and burial practices in late-colonial Buenos Aires. The analysis focuses on the parish of Montserrat, throughout the last three decades of the 18th century. We analyze, according to quantitative and qualitative criteria, the first burial register of the parish, as well as the diocesan "arancel" and other regulations made for the creation of the city's newparishes in 1769.The data obtained in terms of tariff, place and type of burial are contrasted with other sources and with the investigations carried out so far, and based on the study of testaments.

Keywords : Buenos Aires; Death; 18th century; Burials; Funerals.
