Abstract
ERIKA, Schmidt Strano; VIRGINIA, Borra and GABRIELA, Boggio. Armed violence study in Rosario, Argentina, through the application of hierarchical bayesian models. SaberEs [online]. 2023, vol.15, n.2, pp.177-194. ISSN 1852-4418.
Abstract. Rosario city, Argentina, suffers from high levels of armed violence for years, so its spatial distribution provides important elements for designing and executing public policies. The objective of this work is to obtain smoothed estimates of the rates of firearm injuries according to areas of the city for subsequent georeferencing. They were fitted from hierarchical Bayesian models that take into account the supposed spatial correlation and the large number of zero counts present in the data. The mapping of the estimated rates allowed a clear visualization of the zonal variations. It could be identified the downtown area of the city as the lowest risk of armed violence and the southern area, as the one with the highest risk.
