Abstract
BALDUCCI, Fernando; GALLIGANI, Paula. E. and SARTORI, J. I.. Archaeology of Las Tejas Sites a century later: new analysis of pottery technology in the Middle Paraná River. Rev. Mus. Antropol. [online]. 2023, vol.16, n.3, pp.23-34. Epub Dec 28, 2023. ISSN 1852-060X. http://dx.doi.org/10.31048/1852.4826.v16.n2.40777.
This paper presents the results of the techno-morphological, functional and decorative study carried out on the pottery record recovered in Las Tejas (LT) archaeological site during the fieldworks carried out in 1995 and 2012. This site was discovered by A Serrano at the beginning of the XX century and it is considered one of the first island archaeological sites located in the middle section of the Paraná River (Coronda, Santa Fe). The location inside the alluvial plain, with fluvial dynamics typical of these environments, gives specific characteristics to the archaeological record and its conservation conditions. Specifically, pottery show several characteristics similar to those of Goya-Malabrigo archaeological contexts, which refers to simple shapes -open and closed- mostly smooth, with rhythmic groove incisions in some cases, presence of handles, zoomorphic appendages and thick pottery. The information obtained is presented with the aim of contributing to the discussions of Middle Paraná region pottery technology.
