Abstract
OSUNA COVARRUBIAS, Julio Ernesto and CALONGE REILLO, Fernando. Segregación socioespacial en el acceso a equipamientos de salud en Mazatlán, México. Cuad. urbano [online]. 2022, vol.33, n.33, pp.9-21. ISSN 1853-3655. http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.30972/crn.33336227.
The objective of this study is to analyze the urban structure of Mazatlán, México, in connection with the spatial distribution of beneficiary groups and the public and private health facilities. The socio-spatial segregation approach was made from the exclusion of social groups to the provision dynamics of infrastructure and services due to their socioeconomic conditions (Murillo et al., 2011; Sabatini, 2003); and the accessibility to health facilities from the distance that separates potential users from the service point (Garrocho, 1993; Bass, 2015). The methodology involves mapping of official statistical data, regarding socioeconomic and urban marginalization indicators, more over its relationship with the accessibility to health facilities. It concludes that users of the Instituto de Salud para el Bienestar (INSABI) are mostly segregated to access health facilities, due to the great distances they have to cover and the deficient transport infrastructure.
Keywords : Socio-spatial segregation; health facilities; urban marginalization; intermediate touristic cities.
