Abstract
PADILLA FUENTES, Geraldo; RODRIGUEZ GARCES, Carlos and ESPINOSA VALENZUELA, Denisse. Inseguridad ciudadana y delitos de mayor connotación social: formas y extensiones del temor a la delincuencia en Chile. Cuad. urbano [online]. 2022, vol.33, n.33, pp.78-101. This article explores and analyzes citizen insecurity in the face of crime in Chile, especially that known as “crimes of greater social connotation”. The methodological design was quantitative and analytical-transectional, using descriptive and inferential techniques with data from the National Urban Survey of Citizen Security made in 2019. The main findings were that crimes of greater social connotation have a marked preponderance in citizen fear of crime; second, that within this typology people are highly exposed to crimes of greater social connotation against the person, especially robberies with violence and by surprise; and third, that insecurity is a cross-sectional phenomenon between comparison groups. The conclusions highlight the polymorphous nature of insecurity, a feeling that can be affected by various sources and has its own dynamics.
