Abstract

FINCK, Nadia; LOBATO, Sabrina; MORENO RUSSO, María Fernanda  and  MARTINEZ, María Ayelén. El rol de la política urbana de suelo y vivienda en el proceso de expansión en dos ciudades fueguinas (Argentina) durante el período 2005-2015. Cuad. urbano [online]. 2022, vol.33, n.33, pp.137-161. ISSN 1853-3655.

Intermediate cities in the Argentine urban system, in addition to a relevant quantitative presence, demonstrate a particular dynamism that requires their own approach. The intermediate cities of our region are not exempt from inequality processes, they have tended to expand with low density and housing public policies failed to fully resolve the housing deficit that has been increasing in recent years. According to this we propose to present some results of a comparative research between two intermediate cities in the Patagonian region, in an island territory: Río Grande and Ushuaia in the province of Tierra del Fuego, Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur. The aim of our research is accounting for the links between urban land and housing policies in different levels (national, provincial and municipal) and urban expansion processes into the period between 2005 and 2015 in these cities.

Keywords : Intermediate cities; Patagonia; urban policy.
