Abstract

FERNANDEZ, Tomás. Libanio y la cultura libresca temprano-bizantina. Argos [online]. 2015, vol.38, n.2, pp.115-125. ISSN 1853-6379.

This article tackles the role of books, scribes and text circulation in the oeuvre of Libanius (4th c.), especially in his Autobiography (= oratio 1). On the basis of his references to scriptorial culture, I underline his links to previous Greek culture -mainly to the Second Sophistic -; to contemporary Christian paideia; and to later Byzantine erudition.

Keywords : Libanius; Rhetoric; Scriptorial Culture; Byzantium.
