The article studies the history and development of a sector of the modern Argentine press, focusing on two reference regional newspapers of Northern Patagonia, La Nueva Provincia and Río Negro. Through the collection and interpretation of different sources, the historical, socio-political, economic and cultural context of the nation, provinces and cities where the publications emerge is reconstructed. This framework allows the description and comparison of the emergency conditions and the evolution of the newspapers, and the political and cultural role they have played in their geographical areas of influence to the present day.
