Abstract

This article analyzes the image that the online portals of La Nación, Infobae, Página 12 and Ámbito constructed of the parliamentary candidates José Luis Espert, of Avanza Libertad, and Javier Gerardo Milei, of La Libertad Avanza, during the previous two weeks and the two after the legislative elections of November 14, 2021. From a sample of 249 journalistic pieces, the attributes that the media use to characterize them are studied, as well as the assessment given.
It is observed that the person who had the greatest visibility was Javier Milei. Ideology and behavior were the attributes that appeared the most. A strong negative assessment of Milei and Espert by Página 12 stands out. On the contrary and in a lower percentage, this is followed by the general positive assessment of Milei by Infobae and, to a lesser extent, a slight tendency by La Nación to negatively valuing La Libertad Avanza candidate, a slight tendency of Infobae to positively value both characters in articles where both are named, and a propensity to negatively value Milei and Espert of Ámbito.
