In early Peronism, the sugar agroindustry obtained, by means of Decree 678/45, the first regulation of national scope aiming to regulate its troubled development. This decree, however, did not achieve its aim, leading the government to try various other options to reach this result. The aim of this paper is to study state regulations on sugar passed during the First Peronism, with particular attention to changes and continuities in relation to previous regulations, as well as to the response elicited from Tucumán's sugar industry, especially that of cane planters and sugar manufacturers.
