Abstract

WADDELL, Jorge Eduardo. Theoretical framework for the study of secondary railways in Argentina. Travesía (San Miguel de Tucumán) [online]. 2021, vol.23, n.2, pp.133-149. ISSN 2314-2707.

Argentina developed a vast main railway network. However, a large number of small railway lines of different types and with different characteristics were developed outside this network. These lines that we call secondary, although it is difficult to specify, reached more than 5.000 kilometers. The diversity of them, in terms of type of service, duration over time, jurisdictional situation, temporary nature of some, subordinated or not to other industrial or other enterprises, etc. makes its treatment complex. This paper aims to start the discussion about the theoretical framework for the analysis of these railways.
