Resumen
PUNTIERI, Javier G y VIGNOLES, Estanislao. Buddleja davidii (Scrophulariaceae), an invasive species new for the adventitious flora of Argentina. Darwiniana, nueva serie [online]. 2018, vol.6, n.1, pp.120-125. ISSN 0011-6793. http://dx.doi.org/10.14522/darwiniana.2018.61.789.
This work reports for the first time the presence in Argentina of a naturalized population of Buddleja davidii, which occupies about 124 hectares at El Hoyo (Cushamen department, Chubut province). Buddleja davidii is a middle-size to tall shrub native to central Asia which nowadays is considered a troublesome invasive plant in several countries. Those individuals of B. davidii found at El Hoyo are able to develop fruits and seeds, unlike the majority of those cultivated in Patagonian gardens as ornamentals. We provide a detailed description, illustrations, and an estimation of the abundance of B. davidii at El Hoyo. A key to the species of Buddleja present in Patagonia is provided.
