Resumen

LUCCI, Marcela. La bandera de los 'catalanes de América': un ensayo de organización desde el exilio. Cuad. hist. Esp. [online]. 2008, vol.82, pp.191-212. ISSN 0325-1195.

In April 1922, the "Catalans of America" offered the Mancomunitat of Catalonia a Catalan flag made out of the organizational and economic efforts of the exiled Catalans and emigrants of the whole continent. The contingent of this group that was established in Buenos Aires, under the impulse of the "Comité d'Acció Catalana de Sudamèrica", collaborated with a transcendental performance to fulfill the project. A scientific approach to such punctual cases allows to enrich the analysis and to authorize, from a solid documentary corpus, the establishment of facts that enhance the comprehension of historical processes. Regarding Spanish contemporary history, the arrival of democracy allowed to leave behind the idea of Spanish historiography as one and indivisible, and encouraged the development of the systematical study, among others, of the Catalan past. For that reason, the documentation that proves "Catalans of America" of Buenos Aires activities during at least the first half of the XXth century, makes possible to undertake the study of the group's development and proves how they, due to the support of a common culture, defined their social, cultural and political actions.

Palabras clave : "Catalans of America"; Catalanism; Spanish exile; Cultural history.
