The aim of this paper is to reflect on the role and circulation of the image in the contemporary representations of the Paraguayan War, in particular the power of agency of Cándido López' works into contemporary audiovisual. We will consider what happens to this visuality within the field of digital image of the production of commercialized or fan made video games. Hence, we will study the empowerment of the images when they enter the field of virtuality and interactivity, and the role of the audience in the process. Starting from the production of Cándido López, the agency of the work and the artist himself are analyzed in the documentary series "Guerra Guasú", the documentary "Candido Lopez, los campos de batalla", and the chapter on the Paraguayan War in the series "Algo habrán hecho". In addition, we will inquire on the power of ownership and agency of these images and the new scenarios and conflicts arising from the videogames Triple Alliance War (Strategy & Tactics series) and War of the Triple Alliance (WOTTA), a noncommercial fan modification for the real-time video game Age of Empires III.
