ANDRADE, Luana Reis; SOARE, Marcela y OLIVEIR, Ana Cristina. Work, the ethnic-racial issue and incarceration:. Trab. soc. [online]. 2021, vol.22, n.36, pp.275-293. Epub 01-Ene-2021. ISSN 1514-6871.
The purpose of this text is to discuss how colonial slavery generated perverse consequences in the structuring of the commodification of the Brazilian labor force, especially the prison labor force causing, the historical permanence of the criminalization of black men and women in light of Marxist tradition. That process causes African Brazilians to turn to degrading jobs or lack thereof and/or their discipline through prison work, which presents itself as a privilege within the prison system going back to the ideal and the reality of the post-abolition period. In historical contexts different from dependent capitalism in Brazil, the functionality of this ideal of the privilege of insertion in the labor market is identified even with low wages and degrading conditions, for the constitution of the reduced value of the labor force in Brazil.
