DEL MARMOL, Mariana y DIAZ, Juliana. Artistic work and pandemic: action strategies of theater actors and actresses in La Plata during 2020 and 2021. Trab. soc. [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.38, pp.141-162. Epub 01-Ene-2022. ISSN 1514-6871.
In this article we propose to investigate the collective collective action strategies of La Plata theater performers during 2020 and 2021. We find that the critical context generated from the pandemic builds an interesting scenario to observe these processes, since it has intensified the emergence of some problems that had been developing in an accelerated way in recent years but that deepened during this juncture. In particular, the growing but heterogeneous self-perception of artists as workers, the criticism of the precariousness of their working conditions and the claim to the State for greater protection for artistic activity. At the same time, the tensions and contradictions that go through these processes become more evident, hindering the continuity and cohesion of the actions undertaken by this group. Considering these dimensions, we will analyze the collective action strategies of La Plata theater artists during different periods of the pandemic.
The work is the result of the exchange of two investigations on artistic work in constant dialogue and discussion. In this sense, we have carried out an analysis with a qualitative perspective, taking into account the disciplinary training approaches of each of the authors: anthropology and sociology.
