This paper is focused on the bibliography on the 4-S clubs in Colombia, a type of rural youth club established in the country in the mid-twentieth century and whose purpose was to turn peasants into farmers, housewives, citizens, and rural leaders, that is, into suitable actors for the agricultural modernization of the time. Since Colombian historiography has not dealt much with the subject, this article is a starting point to explore one of the phenomena linked to the history of rural Colombian youth. The first section specifies what the objectives of the 4-S clubs were. The second section presents bibliography on the subject in Colombia and elsewhere to outline research avenues. This historiographic balance seeks to make a qualitative evaluation of the information recovered.
