The following reflective essay emphasizes the importance of social and cultural issues that lie at the base of the Second Language Acquisition (SLA). A sociolinguistic critical discussion with traditional models of SLA, focused on bio-linguistics theory arises, which avoid the fundamental socio-cultural aspects of learning a language from the recognition of its social features. To illustrate the theory defended, intercultural approach, a Computer Generated series for preschoolers is proposed, Dora the Explorer, which allows illustrating conclusively the importance of linking pedagogically both linguistic and sociocultural aspects.
