In the last twenty years, the studies on affects and emotions have gained strength in the social sciences and humanities. This occurs within the context of the so-called “emotional boom” that, in the educational field, leads to associating “good” pedagogy with that which “deals” with affects and emotions. This article explores how some concepts produced from the socio-anthropological perspectives of emotions and from the affect theory are being used in the educational field. The focus is on investigating what happens when conceptualizations about affects and emotions are read through the prism of educational concerns. After reviewing the most salient points of these theoretical approaches and reviewing some criticisms formulated towards them, reflections are proposed on the possibility of formulating “pedagogies of” affects and emotions.
