HEREDIA, Susana y MESTRE, Ana. The Darwriwilian conodont Lenodus Variabilis (Sergeeva) in the Central Precordillera of San Juan, Argentina. Ser. correl. geol. [online]. 2013, vol.29, n.1, pp.81-92. ISSN 1666-9479.
Elements of the key species Lenodus variabilis (Sergeeva) have been recovered from samples of the San Juan Formation which is cropping out in Cerro La Chilca section, Central Precordillera (San Juan). These limestones correspond to the last 15 m of this unit and they are composed by packstone- bioclastic wackestone, glauconitic wackestone to bioclastic grainstone. The finding of L. variabilis allows recording the homonymous biozone, been also present in the following biozone (Yangtzeplacognathus crassus Zone), which pointed out similarities between middle Darriwilian conodont biostratigraphic scheme of the Precordillera with those of Baltica and south-central China.
