This article re-views some of the contributions that the Argentine Geological Mining Service (SEGEMAR) is carrying out within the framework of the Geological Interest Sites project of the Argentine Republic and in favor of the communication of geological issues to the general public. Through this activity the Institution aims to revalue the abiotic component of the landscape that, in many occasions and particularly in the framework of protected areas, is eclipsed fundamentally by the aspects related to flora and fauna or those historical/archaeological. In the present contribution some of the tasks carried out in this regard are detailed for its future implementation in the Monte León National Park in the province of Santa Cruz.
