Resumen

GALANTINI, J.A.  y  SUNER, L.. Soil organic matter fractions: analysis of Argentine soils. Agriscientia [online]. 2008, vol.25, n.1, pp.41-55. ISSN 1668-298X.

Soil organic matter (SOM) is the most frequently used indicator to evaluate soil quality; however, its direct and indirect effects are not well known. SOM is a heterogeneous mixture of organic compounds with different properties. Organic fraction separation by physical, chemical and biochemical methods can improve the understanding of the SOM role. The objective of this review was to analyze the information on physical fractionation methods applied to Argentine soils. Organic fractions physically separated are sensible indicators of the impacts of agronomic practices. The moment in which samples were taken, the climatic and soil characteristics, and the methodology used must be considered in interpreting the results due to the labile fraction variability.

Palabras clave : Soil organic matter fractions; Soil quality.
