Resumen

PURICELLI, E.; FACCINI, D.; NISENSOHN, L.  y  TORRES, P.. Competition between Parietaria debilis and Lamium amplexicaule, fallow weeds in the central soybean region of Argentina. Agriscientia [online]. 2012, vol.29, n.2, pp.109-113. ISSN 1668-298X.

Knowledge of the growing traits such as biomass, reproductive structures and competition between weed species may contribute to develop tactics to manage arable weeds. Experiments were conducted in 2009 and 2010 during winter and spring to examine the relative competition abilities of Parietaria debilis and Lamium amplexicaule fallow weeds. Plant biomass and height fitted to sigmoidal equation. Plant biomass and height were lower for P. debilis when compared to L. amplexicaule. In winter, P. debilis was affected by low temperatures and no seed production was observed. In spring, L. amplexicaule produced more seeds than P. debilis. Relative yields of P. debilis and L. amplexicaule in winter and spring indicate complete resource complementarity between both weeds. Although L. amplexicaule shows competitive traits that offer an advantage relative to P. debilis; both species can develop and produce seeds.
