SILVA MENESES, Gabriela  y  PEREIRA, Fábio Henrique. Between Journalism, Science and Public Service: modalities for negotiating the identities of journalists working in Brazilian Federal Public Universities. Trama comun. [online]. 2022, vol.26, n.1, pp.103-121. ISSN 1668-5628.

This article intends to analyze the negotiation of professional identities of journalists who work in federal public universities in Brazil. When working with communication and media services at federal universities, these journalists end up involved in three distinct sociodiscursive spaces: journalism, public communication and science. Based on an interactionist perspective of studying identity and a qualitative ethnographic research, this investigation describes and analyzes the conditions for negotiating the statutes and social roles of these journalists with the different actors with whom they interact in their daily practices. The investigation revealed the diversity of social roles mobilized by these journalists - reporter, press officer, editor, boss, co-worker, collaborator, public communicator, science disseminator, tutor, advisor, depending on the interaction situations in which they participate. He also described the identity movements that characterize the professional being who works in universities – something that can very well be adapted and applied to other segments of journalism.
