BOURGUET, Marie-Noëlle. Distant knowledges: A historiographical overview about travels and knowledge from 16th to 18th Centuries. Rev. Esc. Hist. [online]. 2016, vol.15, n.1, pp.00-00. ISSN 1669-9041.
Drawing on a set of influential Works produced in the last three decades, this paper examines the many ways in which scientific knowledge production, travels and travel instructions interacted in the Early Modern Age. Especially, it sketches the role of geographical distance, social agencies, collecting practices and data circulation have interacted in the production of scientific knowledge at 18th-century. Consequently, the purpose here is to offer a historiographical overview built upon a critical survey of some valuable works published in French and English in order to draw a research agenda.
