Resumen

LEVIN, Luciano  y  FERPOZZI, Hugo. Information Technologies Applied to Knowledge Production in Molecular Biology in Argentina. Rev. iberoam. cienc. tecnol. soc. [online]. 2015, vol.10, n.30, pp.29-60. ISSN 1850-0013.

This article explores some of the connections between information technologies and recent transformations in the field of molecular biology in Argentina. More precisely, we attempt to comprehend the ways in which knowledge production, practices and scientific work organization are structured around the use of digital technologies. To that end, we analyze research cases related to Chagas disease; and identification of desaparecidos (missing people) under Argentina’s State terrorism regime. Both cases are examined in terms of productive processes, and therefore we focused more on knowledge production than on scientific communication or knowledge distribution, as is often the case in most of the Latin American literature. Therefore, we propose to show the special characteristics of the local context in terms of material and cognitive exchanges, participation modes in the knowledge production process, and the normative/ institutional factors that shape this process.

Palabras clave : Information technologies; Molecular biology; Knowledge production.
