Resumen

BONGIOVANNI, Rodolfo et al. CARBON FOOTPRINT OF CORN AS A LINK BETWEEN PRODUCTIONAND THE ENVIRONMENT. Cienc. suelo [online]. 2023, vol.41, n.2, pp.157-179. ISSN 1850-2067.

The carbon footprint (CF) represents the sum of greenhouse gases emitted by a person, institution, project or product, and is a measure of one of the impacts on the environment caused by human activities. The general objective of this research was to estimate the CF of corn produced in Córdoba, Argentina. The specific objective was to analyze the difference in CF by using Precision Agriculture. The declared unit is 1 t of grain at the farmgate. The methods used follow the ISO 14067 standards and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change guidelines. The information was obtained from the Córdoba Grain Exchange and from a field trial in Alejandro Roca, Córdoba. The CF resulted in 156.5 kg CO2 eq t-1 of corn, weighted average per department of the province of Córdoba. In the field trial, N variable rate allowed the CF to be reduced by 21.45%, from 150.75 kg CO2 eq t-1 to 124.13 kg CO2 eq t-1. The results are below the average reported in
