GASPAROTTI, Leticia et al. La quebrada de Miriguaca: una historia del habitar en los últimos 4000 años (Antofagasta de la Sierra, Provincia de Catamarca). Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.2, pp.243-260. ISSN 1850-373X. http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.37176/iea.23.2.2022.756.
This article historizes the means by which the Miriguaca Valley in the southern Puna was dwelt in, lived in, and built on during the last 4000 years. Based on a systematization of data generated for more than 14 years, including previously unpublished analyses, various lines of evidence and methodologies are integrated to address how the valley’s landscape was dwelt in and built upon at different moments in the history of the area. Additionally, the role of this area in the social framework of the region is explored, comparing and contrasting continuities and ruptures in the dwelling practices within Miriguaca using models and archaeological evidence from other valleys from within the Antofagasta de la Sierra basin. This evidence enables the visualization of different ways of dwelling in the valley, including the establishment of synchronic and diachronic relationships – some of them congruent - which articulated various actions and moments that resulted in similar architectural and locational choices, thereby generating persistent places of dwelling. In other cases, marked discontinuities and differences were recorded in the construction of landscapes, leading to situations of discordance and counterpoint between the various ways of dwelling in the same space.
