Resumen

NAZAR, Domingo  y  DE LA FUENTE, Guillermo. ABOUT THE AGUADA PORTEZUELO CERAMIC FROM THE CATAMARCA VALLEY AND ANCASTI HILLS. Comechingonia [online]. 2016, vol.20, n.2, pp.1-10. ISSN 1851-0027.

Aguada Portezuelo pottery possesses a very specific technological and stylistic characteristics, which has motivated researchers to speak of an "Aguada Portezuelo ceramic style". Nevertheless, this singular pottery is related to other many less known ceramic types. Archaeological research in Aguada sites geographically located in Catamarca valley (Choya 68 and La Viñita) shows diversity in  ceramic  types  associated  with  the  Aguada  Portezuelo  type. Although the presence of Aguada Portezuelo ceramic type would seem spatially distributed only in the north and south sectors of Catamarca valley, archaeological surveys carried out in several places located at Sierra de Ancasti, at different altitudinal levels, have allowed us to record this ceramic type in significant densities. In this paper, we present a preliminary comparative study of this pottery trying to define its morphological and stylistic features. Thus, we expect to build a reference framework to describe and analyse the marked variability observed in this ceramic type, and their Aguada associated types from other regions in Catamarca province. Ultimately, we hope this work helps to explore the socio-cultural relationships into the Aguada "geography".

Palabras clave : pottery; style; morphology; technology.
