ZUBIETA, Elena M. y DELFINO, Gisela. Satisfaction with life, psychological and social well being in college students. Anu. investig. [online]. 2010, vol.17, pp.277-283. ISSN 1851-1686.
Health in not only related to physical and mental status but also social, integrating the harmony with environment as a critical factor in well being. From a psycho-sociological perspective, well being is not only conceived in terms of symptoms absence or lack of positive emotions but also in the extent that individuals value themselves, experience positive relationships with others and feel control of their environment (Bilbao Ramírez, 2008). Taking satisfaction with life and psychological and social well being as mental health indicators (Keyes, 20052) an empirical study was carried out with the objective of exploring well being levels in a convenient sample of college students from Buenos Aires city. Convergent validity between dimensions was also tested. Youth participants show suitable levels in satisfaction with life and psychological well being but and interesting data show up when perceiving social well being. A deficit in social progress and change perception is detected. Participants do not hold hard believes in society controlling its destiny, in knowing where is going and intentionally determined a future where to go together. Society capacity to produce well being is not clearly perceived by participants.
