Different sources show the primacy of labor motivations for much of the contemporary Paraguayan migration towards Argentina. In this paper we discuss the analysis of those displacements as strictly “economiclabor”, considering a case study and a bibliographic outline. The first point corresponds to an ethnographic corpus made between 2010 and 2014 among Paraguayan migrants settled in the Gran Rosario (Argentina). The second aspect refers to the continuity and historical effects of Paraguayan context over migrants’ displacements. From such intersection, we wonder about the political formulation among migrants’ point of view and how this extends to their positions and strategies. This question will be articulated from an analysis concerning to the logic of the gift, based on previous works. Finally, we base our critic of the use of the “economic migrants” category as the adequate counterpart of those of exiled and refugees.
