Resumen

This study has the objective to investigate the concepto of «efficient teacher» to graduate students of the Graduate Program in Animal Science (faem - Eliseu Maciel Agronomy School: ufpel - Federal University of Pelotas). The research is characterized as qualitative of the ethnographic type. A semi-structured interview were used to collect data. These instruments were answered by six (6) doctoral students of the Program. We perceived, through the analysis of the obtained answers of convergences and divergences, that the «efficient teacher» is the one who is well versed I his specific area, chooses adequate forms to present the subject-matter in school, maintains an affective favorable relationship with the students and, furthermore, makes use of pedagogic knowledge in daily classroom work.
