The objective of this work is contribute to the knowledge of wood, bark and growth rings of chañar (Geoffroea decorticans), from a natural stand of Park Quebracho, Alberdi, Santiago del Estero Province, Argentina. The study was conducted in 16 individuals cut in October 2005. Healthy trees were selected, DBH exceeding 15 cm and in good shape. Were extracted disc of 5 cm thick, at a height of 0.30, 1.30. For the anatomical study of growth and worked with cross sections to 1.30m. Wood is noted for its specialized anatomical features: stratification of structural elements, axial parenchyma paratracheal banded and semi-porous. The bark show signs of evolution, the distinguishing feature being the presence of an interconnected system of secretory cells with red exudates. The growth rings with average thickness of 4712 mm (33 years old), representing a medium growth and the largest increase in the Semiarid Chaco of the species studied. This allows project management chañar a short time considering the time of rotation and the alternative use of wood.
