Resumen

GAILLARD DE BENITEZ, C. et al. Modellingfunctions to predict individual aboveground biomass in Piquillín (Condalia microphylla Cav, Ramnacea) andTtala Chiquito (Celtis pallida Torr, Celtidacea) in the province of Santiago del Estero, Argentina. Quebracho (Santiago del Estero) [online]. 2013, vol.21, n.1, pp.46-54. ISSN 1851-3026.

The net ecosystem primary production is measured by the amount of carbon stored in the biomass. Its knowledege gives strong arguments to protect ecosystems at risk, such as the Parque Chaqueño in Argentina. Here are presented functions to predict aboveground individual biomass of two shrubs species of that ecosystem, piquillín (Condalia microphylla) and tala (Celtis pallida). As independent variables base- and crown-perimeters and total heigh were used. A total of 63 sample shrubs (32 of piquillín and 31 of tala) were felled in three different sites in the province of Santiago del Estero. Two functions to predict individual aboveground biomass were generated for each species. The firstone of is an allometric model using total height as explicative variable. The second one is a multiple regresion with total height and base- and crown perimeters. Functions to estimate the branch percentage using total height are also presented.
