Resumen

PIERRI, José. Economic results in the production of grains under the sign of agribusiness: A critical analysis. Ciclos hist. econ. soc. [online]. 2018, vol.29, n.50, pp.1-20. ISSN 1851-3735.

The agribusiness model prevailed over the last decades in Argentina, in agrarian production and particularly in grain production. The institutions or personalities who disseminated this model affirmed the economic convenience of adopting it, including the reduction of production and marketing costs and, therefore, the improvements in profitability for producers. This interpretation was based, mainly, on an analytical approach of the model, descriptive of some experiences in different crops in regions and bounded lapses, but they did not show enough statistical data to corroborate and quantify the economic benefits proclaimed for the main crops and in extended times. The purpose of this paper is to specify the degree of economic convenience for producers to incorporate the agribusiness model in the production of grains in recent decades. It uses information from public and private entities as a source for the preparation of its statistical data, including the Ministry of Agribusiness, the Agricultural Experimental Station Marcos Juárez of INTA, the journal Márgenes Agropecuarios and the Argentine Association of Regional Consortiums of Agricultural Experimentation (AACREA).
