Resumen

NECKEL, A. et al. Environmental Recovery of an Urban Green Area. Rev. cienc. tecnol. [online]. 2009, n.11, pp.33-41. ISSN 1851-7587.

Green areas historically have been managed in a way inappropriate to their purposes, both as urban or environmental, undermining the biota. These areas are typically governed by the development plans proposed by municipalities. However, proposals are also taken to the competent organisms by the community. The aim was to adequate the green area of the University Campus (UC) in Passo Fundo to its natural purpose: preservation area for park purposes. Therefore, this work was developed as collaboration for the execution of improvements in the green area of the UC, within the laws governing environmental preservation and taking into account community needs. With these actions, the green area came to have a social function for the community, which now operates actively in preserving the site.
