Resumen

DE PIERI PIMENTEL, André  y  VIANNA PINHO, Isabela. The management of illegalisms as a market. Runa [online]. 2022, vol.43, n.2, pp.305-324.  Epub 27-Jun-2022. ISSN 1851-9628.  http://dx.doi.org/10.34096/runa.v43i2.8505.

This article is based on a collective multi-method research that has as an empirical focus in the operation and regulation of economic circuits linked to robbery and theft of vehicles in São Paulo, an object that has been little discussed in the literature. We reconstruct typical car trajectories to show how the management of illegalisms produces inequalities, violence and also markets. We defend that public management is not only a political field, but also an economic field, composed of state agents, segments of civil society and private capital. At the same time that the management of these illegalities produces inequality and violence, especially among the poorest, there are those who earn a lot of money producing and exploring borders between the legal and the illegal, such as insurance companies, auctions and car scrapping.

Palabras clave : Markets; Management; Illegalisms; Violence; Inequalities.
