Resumen

BASTOS AMIGO, Santiago. The community and the communitarian in the XXI century. Analysis proposals following the study of Mezcala, Mexico. Runa [online]. 2024, vol.45, n.1, pp.59-76.  Epub 01-Feb-2024. ISSN 1851-9628.  http://dx.doi.org/10.34096/runa.v45i1.12597.

In the context of the revitalization of the concept of “community” associated with indigenous belonging, this text seeks to propose a way of understanding and analyzing community spaces, through the analysis of the case of Mezcala, a locality in Jalisco that in large part does not fall within the canons of the indigenous community but is immersed in a process of re-communalization for the defense of its territory. By studying “the communitarian” through its institutions, practices and ideologies and including conflict as an inherent part, at least four ways of understanding the community and practicing the communitarian emerged in Mezcala.

Palabras clave : Indigenous community; Indigenous peoples; Autonomy; Mexico.
