Resumen
TULLIO, Martina Di. BEYOND THE VISIBLE: RAW MATERIALS AND PASTES STANDARDS OF POTTERYIN QUEBRADA DE PAJCHELA (PUNA OF JUJUY, ARGENTINA) DURING THE LATE AND INKA/EARLY COLONIAL PERIODS (1200-1660B.C.). Relaciones [online]. 2023, vol.48, suppl.1, pp.19-20. ISSN 0325-2221. http://dx.doi.org/10.24215/18521479e052.
The relations of the Upper San Juan Mayo River Basin (Puna of Jujuy) with other regional areas during the Late and the Inka/Early Colonial periods remam uncertain. The superficial features of the pottery retrievedfrom two sites near the town of Cusi Cusi have provoked multiple hypotheses on the matter, due to their similarities with styles identified in the region. In this work, the results of the sub-macroscopical analysis of the ceramic material are presented, which allowed the identification of the raw material used and the definition of local pastes standards for the first time. Considering the temporal distribution of these pastes groups and their association with superficial treatments, the continuity in the choices taken during the firsts stages of the chaine opératoire allows to doubt the relevance of the proportions of raw materials to distinguish technological traditions of the past.
