This article analyzes the coverage made by La Vanguardia–the official newspaper of the Argentine Socialist Party– of the news related to the development of aviation during the interwar period. Argentine socialism followed with great interest these news stories that became powerful narratives about progress and modernity and that circulated intensely at the level of mass culture. We believe that in approaching this object it is possible to analyze the way in which the socialists appropriated the imaginary of the modern, while at the same time it can illuminate a strategic approach to mass culture.
