The present article has the purpose to research through the ritual known as Danza de los Caporales a set of processes of signification and resignification of the Bolivian cultural identity in Argentina and specifically in the city of Quilmes, to apprehend and understand the complexities of the interaction between vernacular cultures and national identity that are disputed in the public scenario of a society impacted by migratory processes of different origins. We propose to explore the relation between processes of social and economic mobility of the migrant community and occupation of symbolic spaces of cultural power and analyze the use, signification and resignification of cultural practices in different generations of an immigrant group.
