The presence of comorbidities in patients with heart failure began to be considered in the last 10 years. One, chronic kidney disease, is present in a large number of patients and is well known clinical significance, since their presence in patients with heart failure is related to a greater number of hospital readmissions and adverse events. A further is anemia, considered one of the most frequent comorbidities in patients with heart failure and associated with the presence of chronic kidney disease. Some studies suggest its presence in patients with advanced stages of the disease, which was raised whether this development would be the cause of their appearance with which worsens the prognosis. In the last 10 years, the anemia is of care for their frequency and condition worse functional and vital prognosis in patients. It is in 20% of patients, approximately, as is often underdiagnosed; the range of prevalence is usually variable according to different series. Even more studies are necessary to consider the appropriate treatment and which patients with heart failure should be corrected hemoglobin values, not being clear who would benefit from treatment. The aim of our review is to provide information about this latter comorbidity, which could be considered an indicator in patients with advanced heart failure, and the importance of early diagnosis way to act against the advance of the disease.
