AIZENBERG, Lila; SALETTI-CUESTA, Lorena y TORRES, Eduardo. Development of a Scale to Evaluate Opinions on Gender-Based Violence in Elementary Schools’ Teachers. Rev Arg Cs Comp. [online]. 2019, vol.11, n.3, pp.1-9. Epub 05-Jul-2019. ISSN 1852-4206.
As an agent of socialization, the school is not only a place for production and reproduction of gender inequalities, but also a prevention actor. Gender-based violence (GV) is an important problem in schools and teachers play a key role in its prevention. This article introduces a scale that evaluates opinions regarding gender-based violence by teachers from public schools at the province of Córdoba, Argentina. The scale is part of a School free of gender-based violence Program in Córdoba. Results suggest that the scale is valid, reliable and includes four empirical dimensions of opinions on gender-based violence. The findings show that GV is a complex problematic, especially among male teachers, who teach at Elementary schools, and among older or senior teachers. Training on these issues is crucial to modify socio-cultural patterns that naturalize violence in the educational system.
