This paper presents the results of a study that analyzes the strategic process in small and medium business, with emphasis on the articulation ofexplicit and tacit components. We believe that the strategic process in small business has certain specific features that differentiate it from the processes of large firms. In this process, there is converge of resources, organizational skills, backgrounds business and strategic thinking of the small business manager. These provide specific advantages and limitations in the development stage ofdecision-making process of defining strategies for the organization. The fieldwork consisted of conducting interviews to small business managers. The final conclusions of our research identify mainly one type of strategic process that moves away from the traditional perspective of strategic planning and approaches a process focused on the small business manager or owner, using some information and a triad of knowledge, experience and intuition.
