Resumen

FARIAS, Ruy. Migraciones y exilios gallegos en la Argentina (ss. XVIII-XXI): algunos comentarios a la bibliografía sobre el tema. Olivar [online]. 2016, vol.17, n.25, e008. ISSN 1852-4478.

Galician has been the most numerous European ethnic-regional group of all that have arrived to Argentina. From Manuel Castro López's pioneer work at the beginning of the 20th Century, the scholarship about this collective's presence in Argentina has increased much. However, it wasn't until the last few decades when the literature devoted to the Galician presence to the west of the River of La Plata picked, producing a noteworthy increase in quantity as well as in quality. There has also been an important improvement and change in the topics researched, models of analysis used, methodology and sources employed. Migrations and exiles from Galicia to Argentina are two distinct but interrelated phenomena that constitute a key part of the process of construction and/or modernization of both the society of arrival and the society of origin. Our current knowledge about them is based on these recent studies. This article reflects on this scholarship by focusing on the topics researched, the sources and methods used, the main conclusions and the future agenda.
