Resumen

SCHENQUER, Laura. “All forms of violence”: antisemitism in Argentina. Representations and discursive memories in the papers of Rabbi Marshall T. Meyer (1960-1985). Rev. Mus. Antropol. [online]. 2023, vol.16, n.3, pp.257-268.  Epub 28-Dic-2023. ISSN 1852-060X.  http://dx.doi.org/10.31048/1852.4826.v16.n2.40776.

Based on a set of letters and documents from Marshall T. Meyer, an American rabbi sent to Argentina as a representative of the conservative Jewish movement (masorti), this paper analyzes the representation of anti-Semitism and political violence before, during and after the period of the last military dictatorship. In particular, the focus is placed on investigating the reasons why in the democratic transition (1983-1985) anti-Semitism became a flag of intersectoral denunciation to name “all forms of violence” and within the framework of the desire for recovery democracy. The “uses” of the Holocaust in Argentina are studied differentiating the moments of its authorization to reference the Argentine experience.

Palabras clave : Antisemitism; Holocaust; Argentine dictatorship; Violence; State terrorism.
